Pedro Jorge Couto, 35, is charged with risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and failure to appear in court.
Police said he was watching the Trumbull home of his children for several days. When the children's mother returned, the home was a mess and the two began fighting.
Couto started throwing objects around the house, and punched and slapped the woman, who did not need medical attention.
His bond was sat at $35,000 for an appearance in Bridgeport Superior Court.
