First Niagara Family Tennis Classic Coming to Trumbull

The Trumbull Racquet Club will host the First Niagara Family Classic Saturday.
It will feature local families competing to earn a spot in the Regional Tournament and eventually the First Niagara family Classic Finals, to take place Aug. 22 in conjunction with the New Haven Open at Yale, presented by First Niagara, said Jeff Watson of MVT Public Relations.

The tournament will feature Father/Child and Mother/Child 12 & Under, 14 & Under and 18 & Under age divisions; Parent/Child Open divisions for parents with children over the age of 19 or under the age of 10; and a division for Husband/Wife teams.

“The First Niagara Family Classic gives local families the opportunity to engage in friendly competition, and potentially play alongside some of the biggest names in tennis,” said David Ring, New England Regional President for First Niagara. “We’re excited to support this year’s tournament, and we look forward to seeing the winners of the Family Classic on the big stage.”

Winning teams in each division will join top teams from other First Niagara Family Classic Local Events at the Regional Tournament, to be held July 20-21, 2013 at Yale University.

The winners of the Regional Tournament will then have the opportunity to "compete alongside some of the world’s best tennis players at the New Haven Open at Yale on Thursday, Aug. 22," according to a statement.

This year's event is the 13th. Log on to www.newhavenopen.com or call 1-855-464-8366 for more information. Also, make sure to join New Haven Open on Facebook & Twitter for tournament updates, contests, photos from these events.
