Fundraiser Launched To Replace Trumbull Food Truck After 'Massive Accident'
The owner of the Fryborg food truck has launched a fundraiser to help him replace the truck, which was "obliterated in a massive accident."
TRUMBULL, CT — Fans of Fryborg, a restaurant that specializes in hand-cut french fries with a variety of dipping sauces and toppings, are likely familiar with the popular eatery's food truck.
The Fryborg food truck handles private events of all shapes and sizes and has catered events for as many as 1,500 people, according to the company's website.
That all changed Aug. 17, the day the food truck was "obliterated in a massive accident," according to owner Jonathan Gibbons.

In a GoFundMe campaign launched late last month, Gibbons said he was first focused on the well-being of his staff, whom he noted are "now on the mend," in the days immediately following the incident.
After borrowing trucks and trailers to meet some of his damaged truck's scheduled commitments, Gibbons said he has determined the restaurant desperately needs a new truck.

Due to insurance issues, Gibbons said he does not currently have enough money to replace the food truck and is reaching out to the public for help.
"Fryborg is not a franchise," Gibbons said in the campaign's description. "I started this business with a small loan, some help from my mother and my savings, but to get Fryborg to its 13th anniversary will be the biggest challenge I've faced yet, and I'm going to need your help."
As of Thursday afternoon, the GoFundMe campaign has raised over $24,000 toward a $36,000 goal thanks to the support of over 220 donors thus far.
Gibbons also noted that donations of any size are appreciated, however those who donate $100 or more will receive a large branded T-shirt and a Fryborg gift card for $25. Those who donate $1,000 or more will receive $500 towards a future food truck booking in 2025.
Located at 10 Broadway in Trumbull, the Fryborg restaurant offers take out, delivery, curbside pickup and a drive-thru, as well as food truck catering.
In addition to a wide variety of french fry-based options and condiments, the Fryborg menu also features burgers, chicken tenders and a fried chicken sandwich.
Gibbons first dreamed up the idea for a french fry restaurant while visiting Belgium in 2003, according to the Fryborg website.
The business officially opened nine years later and has been offering "golden-fried goodness" at its restaurant and from its food truck ever since.
"All of us at Fryborg invite you to try our hand-cut fries and freshly prepared burgers, sandwiches and salads, made with care from high-quality ingredients," the website reads. "Whether you stop in, call ahead or have us deliver, we take pride in our food and look forward to serving you at our Trumbull restaurant."
