Hazmat Call, Electrical Fire Reported At Trumbull High School
BREAKING: The school will open on a delay Friday.

TRUMBULL, CT — The fire department responded twice to Trumbull High School within a span of a few hours, officials said.
At 8:24 p.m. Thursday, Trumbull Center was dispatched for a HAZMAT call with a report of a glycol leak, fire officials said.
"Responding units found over 100 gallons of glycol from a broken pipe," fire officials said in a social media post. "Crews assisted with mitigating the leak and containing hazards. Building maintenance shut down the HVAC system and after the scene was deemed safe, the incident was left in the hands of the Board of Ed."

Less than 6 hours later at 3:04 a.m. Friday, a call came in from a Nichols firefighter working maintenance at the high school with a report of smoke in the building, officials said. This was accompanied by dispatch receiving the alarm from smoke detectors inside the school.
Crews from Trumbull Center, Long Hill, and Nichols responded to find a smoke condition caused by a small electrical fire from a power chord, fire officials said. The fire was extinguished with a dry chemical extinguisher, crews checked for extension, and remained on scene for ventilation. The Fire Marshall’s office responded to both calls.
