For some St. Joseph High Grads, it took a while, but they heard the calling and now are priests.
At Saturday's St. Joseph graduation, a speaker noted that at least three graduates have become priests.
Michael Novajosky (class of 2001) was ordained at age 27 in 2010; John Connaughton (Class of 1995), Matthew Krankall (2004) and Krzystof Kuczynski (2008) were all ordained last week.
"As of this ordination, more than half a dozen man have followed the path from St. Joe’s to priesthood in the Diocese of Bridgeport. Two more of St. Joseph’s alumni are seminarians on the path to ordination," according to the Fairfield County Catholic.
The Rev. Connaughton, the oldest of the St. Joseph group at 37, earned his law degree before joining the seminary in 2008.
"God is always surprising us. There were many years when I thought life as a priest could never make me happy. But I was so wrong,” Connaughton told the Catholic. “The thing I thought I could never want has become my heart's desire. I am deeply grateful to Our Lord for the gift of my vocation and for the grace he gave me to finally respond to his tuggings on my heart. I ask the people of the Diocese of Bridgeport to pray for me and the men with whom I will be ordained, that we might serve you worthily as holy, humble, and happy servants of Christ."
