TRUMBULL, CT — A lightning detection system was recently installed in major recreational areas of Trumbull and is now live, town officials announced Wednesday.

According to the town's Facebook page, if lightning is within five miles, the system will sound a siren three times and strobes will flash continuously, alerting people to clear the area.

Once 30 minutes have passed with no lightning, two airhorns will sound letting people know it is safe to resume activity.
