Trumbull Launches Post-Coronavirus Pandemic 'Local Meals' Effort
Thirteen Trumbull restaurants have signed onto the program.
TRUMBULL, CT — In an effort to help Trumbull residents and restaurants impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, the town has launched a Local Meals program to help address food insecurity.
Under the program, residents who sign up through the Trumbull Human Services Department or Senior Center will receive an allotment of lunches and/or dinners from one of 13 Trumbull restaurants that are participating in the initiative. All the provided meals are delivery, take out or curbside pickup only.
The program is being funded by a $200,000 federal grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which is being administered in the state by the Connecticut Department of Housing.

"We have all been through a great deal these past 16 months," said Trumbull First Selectman Vicki Tesoro in a statement. "The pandemic has taken a toll on our businesses and our residents. This program will provide additional commerce to our restaurants and address some of the food insecurity issues the community is still facing."
