Longtime Trumbull Football Coach Resigns: Report
Bob Maffei has announced he's leaving Trumbull's football program after 20 seasons at the helm.

TRUMBULL, CT — Following a tumultuous season for the Golden Eagles, longtime head football coach Bob Maffei has confirmed his resignation, reports the Connecticut Post. Maffei served as the program's leader for 20 seasons, the 20th of which ended with a loss to St. Joseph's on Thanksgiving.
Maffei told the publication he suspended six or seven players due to off-the-field incidents, four of whom were expelled and arrested. He has been with the program for 36 years, serving under legendary football coach Jerry McDougall.
Overall, Maffei was 126-77 as Trumbull's head football coach. He expressed his desire to continue coaching high school football elsewhere.
