Bridgeport Hospital's new cancer treatment center at 5520 Park Ave. will break ground in this summer and a medical office will follow in March or April 2014.
"This started as a dream two years ago. We're a few short weeks from turning a dream into a reality," said Norman Roth, the hospital's executive vice president and chief operating officer.
A cardiology center will be on the third level of the building, Roth noted.
Two other highlights are a garage and healing garden.
"We're going to build as green a garage as can possibly be built," incorporating photovoltaic cells, Roth said.
The healing garden will be a place where patients can sit and enjoy the greenery and peace. There is already a garden in a treatment facility in New Haven, Roth said.
Also, the new medical facility will have 300 employees, Roth noted.
