Although New Road Fitness on Route 111 near Monroe is associated with St. Vincent's Medical Center, you don't need a doctor's note to go there.
"Exercise is for everyone. Whether you currently exercise regularly or have never exercised before, our degreed Exercise Physiologists will evaluate your current condition and create a Personalized Exercise Program just for you using a mix of cardio, strength and flexibility exercises,” said Director Randy Gussin.
Many people are reluctant to join a gym for a variety of reasons, including fear of the unknown, or, rather, what they don't know about working out. Some are de-conditioned or have never been to a gym.
He hopes to set them on a new road. “We use a state of the art fitness equipment system that recognizes each individual member and implements their Personal Exercise Program, directing them where to go, what to do, and how many times to do it.
"The system records everything a member does, so our Exercise Physiologists can review and refine Personal Exercise Programs as members improve their health and fitness. Members can also access their exercise history through our website. In short, we offer all the benefits of working with a dedicated personal trainer, but at a fraction of the cost.”
Membership at New Road Fitness is $59 per month, with no long term commitment, and every new member begins with a 30-day free trial membership. Clients range in age from 20s to 70s, and teens can start at 13 with parents' permission.
New Road Fitness is open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to noon on Saturday. For more information, visit their website at www.newroadfitness.com.
