Obituary: Dr. Raymond K. Panda, 81, of Trumbull

Ray, a dedicated family man and member of the community, owned and operated his own dental practice, serving patients for over 40 years.

TRUMBULL, CT - (From Adzima Funeral Home) Dr. Raymond K. Panda, age 81, of Trumbull, passed away on Friday February 11, 2022, in Bridgeport Hospital. The son of the late John Panda and Irene (Bires) Panda was born on July 14, 1940, in Bridgeport.

A graduate of Fairfield Prep class of 1958, Holy Cross College class of 1962, Ray received a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the New Jersey School of Dentistry in 1966. He was awarded membership into the National Honor society and received the scholastic achievement award of the Psi Omega Dental fraternity.

Ray built a successful dental practice where he proudly served his patients for over 40 years. Married to Patricia (Gerwien) Panda on October 11, 1969, they have three children. Not for self but country, Ray proudly joined the Navy after graduation from dental school.

A veteran of the Vietnam conflict, Ray served with the 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marines division.

He retired as a LCDR in the Dental Corps of the Reserve of the U.S. Navy.

Ray was honored as the “The Voice” of Fairfield Prep Football in 2009, having announced games for over two decades. He was an avid sportsman and had a true love for his four-legged family members.

Ray is survived by his beautiful wife of 53 years Patricia, sons, Kenneth and Brendan (Kelly), daughter, Julie (Greg), and was the proudest Dzedo to his grandchildren, William, Wesley, Sydney, Luke and Caroline.

Further survived by a multitude of cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews whom he could only handle in short doses. Friends and family may visit on Tuesday February 15, 2022 from 4-7pm in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.

Masks are required as visitors pay their respects.

Family and friends are invited to go directly to St. Stephens Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at 10am for a Mass of Christian Burial.

Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, 500 Moose Hill Road, Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, Ray would be proud to know donations were made in his honor to your local veteran’s charity or animal shelter.
