Obituary: George T. Lumley, 92, Of Trumbull

He went on to work at IBM as a manager of credit and collections for 30 plus years until his retirement.

George T. Lumley, age 92, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 20, 2024 . He was the beloved husband of 60 years to the late Arlene (Surowiec) Lumley. He was born on August 5, 1931 in Astoria, Queens, New York, the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Annand) Lumley.

George grew up in Astoria, New York. After High School, George enlisted in the United States Navy aboard the USS English from 1951-1955 during the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he went on to work at IBM as a Manager of Credit and Collections for 30 plus years until his retirement. IBM is where he met his wife Arlene and then moved to Kings Park, New York where he raised his two children George and Linda. George enjoyed spending time with his family, and he spent his free time playing golf, softball, and bowling.

He lived most of his life in Kings Park, New York before recently moving to Trumbull. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren and enjoyed nice dinners out with his wife.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Linda Ruchalski and her husband Joseph of Trumbull, adored grandchildren, Richard Lumley, Nicole Ernsky and her husband Peter, Emily, Daniel, and Amanda Ruchalski, and two cherished great grandchildren, George and Eleanor Ernsky.

He was predeceased by his son, George S. Lumley, a brother, Thomas Lumley, his sister-in- law, Phyllis Lumley, and a nephew, Scott Lumley.

Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A private interment with Full Military Honors will take place at Calverton National Veterans Cemetery, Wading River, New York.
