Trumbull

I have an husband named Seth and my children Jake, Alec and Lily who all went through the public schools. Trumbull ps did an amazing job with them and I wanted to pay it forward.

No.
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Board of Education, incumbent.
Why are you seeking this office?
I have a passion for education and want our town to have the best school district for our children.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
I would say the single biggest issue is economic. It is a big challenge to keep our schools competitive with the best in CT, but we don’t have the budget or resources some of the other schools do. I hope to really think outside the box to try to do more for the students without it necessarily costing more money. My job is to give the students the best eduction they can get within the allotted budget that the BOE is given.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Smaller class sizes, better bus routes and new curriculum.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
During my tenure on the board, all of our elementary schools were named Schools of Excellence and our district has reached #6 in the state. We got a referendum passed to build a new middle school to start with our plan for improving facilities.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
The best advice anyone ever gave me was to trust that small, steady efforts matter more than big, perfect ones. Life, parenting, and leadership are built on showing up, even when it’s uncomfortable, uncertain, or messy. I remind myself often that consistency creates change more than confidence does.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I am a fierce advocate for the students, parents and teachers in this town.
