Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?
No.
Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Trumbull Town Council, appointed for .5 term and elected the past 2 terms.
Why are you seeking this office?
I've been serving for 2.5 terms now and continue to build on what I've learned on council to date. I believe serving on council, gives me and all serving, the opportunity to make positive changes, and in some cases maintain and improve those changes, for the residents of Trumbull.
The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
Cost and quality of living- On council, we have the opportunity to review and vote on the budget each season. We comprehensively analyze how our taxes are spent here in Trumbull. When I knock on doors during election season or listen to residents as they publicly speak or write letters, I get a strong sense of what their individual needs and wishes are. This informs me when we need to discuss and vote to make difficult choices regarding the budget. I intend to continue to approach budget season in this manner.
What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
I have a very broad background of operational and fiscal experience. I am a chef and graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. I was a small business and franchise owner providing meals for seniors and now work for the largest food service company worldwide, in procurement. This background has kept me grounded in those that work tirelessly on their feet every day, in the needs of our senior citizens while also understanding the challenges and value in both large corporate environments as well as small business.
What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
Our senior center is 100 years old and no longer viable at the current location on Priscilla Place. If the referendum on the ballot should fail, I don't intend to give up on finding a well-deserved solution for those that have already contributed and continue to contribute so much to the fabric of our town.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I've sat on council for 5 years now, I've served Trumbull with transparency and honesty, I believe I can be trusted to continue that track record.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
I believe I mentioned this last term, but I still haven't heard better advice. I have a good friend that says, "move a muscle, change a thought." I accepted an appointment 5 years ago, because I felt frustrated and wanted to channel my energy into something positive and good. I have found that serving on council allows me to use my experiences to help create tangible, meaningful change in people's lives right here in my own community.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
If I'm elected, I promise to serve you, not to serve myself.
