Town Council

What town do you live in?

Party Affiliation:

Democrat

Occupation:

Social Studies Teacher for 17 years.

Family:

I am the luckiest man alive to be married to my wife (and best friend!), Joanne.

Does anyone in your family work in politics or government?

No.

Previous public office, appointive or elective:

I am currently serving on Trumbull's Town Council, having been appointed in August.

Why are you seeking this office?

Trumbull is a great town, and I’m running to make it even better. I became a social studies teacher because I believe in public service, and I want to help do my part by serving the people of Trumbull. The administration has steadily invested in the town and kept our finances stable despite outside challenges, and I hope to be a part of that moving forward.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:

Cost of living and the lack of vibrant gathering places are two major challenges facing my constituents. Here in Trumbull we can continue the smart policies the Tesoro administration and our economic development team have been pursuing, including reviving the mall. I intend to be an active participant in that process, helping build a more dynamic town with a stronger tax base to defray costs for residents.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

I recognize the job Vicki Tesoro has done for the town of Trumbull despite challenging circumstances, and I’m a proud member of Team Tesoro. As a veteran educator, I have a first-hand understanding of what it takes to keep our schools thriving. I also believe my running mate and I can bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the Town Council.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?

More sidewalks for Trumbull! We have the best neighborhoods and parks in Fairfield County, but it can be hard to safely travel between them. My vision for Trumbull is that of a truly “connected community.” I see a Trumbull where everyone belongs, where children can walk and bike safely across town to visit friends or go to the park, seniors have a dignified place to gather, and our parks continue to be beautiful areas for people to spend time together.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

Whether it’s coaching, teaching, or mentoring younger educators, I’ve dedicated my time and career to public service. I’ve also been active at the state and local level advocating for better infrastructure that makes it safer to drive and walk/bike in our towns.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?

My school principal says “there’s nothing more important than how you treat people,” and I do my best to live that each day in my classroom and my life. Everyone matters, and our politics should have that simple-but-powerful message at its heart. If elected, I’d represent every member of District 5—regardless of party—to the best of my ability.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

I'm an avid hiker and runner, and If you see me while I’m out enjoying any of our incredible parks, say hello!
