Resident Dies In Trumbull House Fire
A house fire with a structural collapse resulted in one fatality, according to the Long Hill Fire Department.
TRUMBULL, CT —A house fire resulted in one resident death early Saturday in Trumbull, according to the Long Hill Fire Department.
Firefighters responded around 3:17 a.m. Saturday at a house on Hitching Post Lane in Trumbull. Units found heavy fire conditions throughout the home, as well as a structural compromise and collapse on the second floor. The fire was under control at 5:51 a.m.
Firefighters initially attacked the fire from the outside to help control the fire. Once conditions allowed, they started an interior fire attack and conducted searches of the home. One resident did not survive. There were no injuries to firefighters.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with [the] resident's family and friends during this difficult time," said Greg SanFanAndre, fire chief of the Long Hill Fire Department. "We extend our appreciation to all first responders who worked tirelessly, battling very difficult conditions."
The scene was turned over to the Trumbull Fire Marshal's Office around 6:30 a.m. for an investigation into the fire. There was no initial word on the cause of the fire or the extent of damages.
