Sandy Hook Student Part Of Shelton Flag Day Ceremony

For Adleen Eckman, a Sandy Hook student, Flag Day is special.
She avoided the Dec. 14, 2012 shooting at her school because she attended afternoon kindergarten.
She took part in the recent Flag Day ceremony in Shelton with her mother. The Daughters of the American Revolution held the event outside of the Shelton Community Center.
They honored the "six-month memory of a tragedy that touched all of us," said one speaker.
The girl, now 6, placed flowers at the base of the American flag.
Her mother, Sarah Ekman, said Adleen did not know the Sandy Hook victims personally but knew of the incident.
