Save a Life Day: A Community-Wide Effort to Prevent Overdose Deaths

Narcan Training available at Trumbull Health Department April 9, 2025

On April 9, 2025, thousands of individuals and organizations across the nation will come together for Save a Life Day, a vital initiative aimed at preventing overdose deaths and equipping communities with life-saving resources. This annual event is dedicated to raising awareness, providing education, and distributing free naloxone (Narcan) to those who need it most.

Save a Life Day is a collective effort involving local health departments, harm reduction groups, first responders, and community volunteers. The event will feature free naloxone training where participants will learn how to recognize the signs of an overdose, administer naloxone, and access local support services. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), naloxone is a proven tool in reversing opioid overdoses and has saved thousands of lives nationwide.

The event is open to all members of the community, and no prior experience or medical training is required to participate. Organizers encourage businesses, schools, and faith-based groups to join the effort and help spread awareness.
