Target Parking Garage To Fully Reopen At Trumbull Mall Thursday

Town officials said the parking deck will be fully available on both its upper and lower levels beginning Sept. 26.

TRUMBULL, CT — The Target parking garage at the Trumbull Mall will fully reopen Thursday after more than a year of construction work, according to town officials.

In a Facebook post, town officials said the Trumbull Building Department has cleared the upper-level Target parking deck to reopen, and the parking deck will be fully available on both its upper and lower levels beginning Thursday.

Officials also noted some final touches and small construction by the "Door 1" entrance will still need to be completed, however this work will not hinder the opening.

A large area of the lower level Target parking deck reopened back in July for customers to use "before the busy back-to-school season."

Construction on the parking garage next to Target at the mall began back in May 2023. At that time, town officials said work on the garage would continue for a 12-18 month period, during which construction would occur in phases.

Director of Economic and Community Development Rina Bakalar said Wednesday the project has been "a massive but necessary undertaking in excess of $11 [million] of work" to replace approximately 75 percent of the garage.

She also said at the time the entire garage was expected to reopen this fall.

"We appreciate the patience of shoppers and tenants," Bakalar said. "We are dealing with old buildings and structures which require maintenance and investment."
