THS Marching Band Taking to the Streets

If you are a Trumbull High School Golden Marching Band fan, you'll be seeing them around town.

"If you're doorbell rings between Saturday, August 24th and Sunday,  September 8th, it could be a member of Trumbull's own award winning high  school band," said Valerie Newman, spokeswoman.

The Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band has  been chosen to perform at several Presidential inaugural parades, Disney  parades, the Rose Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl and more.

The band, has about 140 high school students, needs to raise  money each year so that they can compete and successfully represent the  town. They are the only organization in town that is authorized to raise  funds door to door, Newman said.

"This week long campaign is their biggest fundraiser  of the year. Each team of students will be accompanied by a parent. The  parents have registered their vehicles with the police and the children  will be leaving envelopes by the door if you're not home to answer the door," she said.

All donations are tax deductible and the band members will provide  the forms if residents request them. Donors who contribute $25 dollars  or more will receive a free ticket to the band's Fall Classic event  scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28 at Trumbull High School. Those  residents donating $50 or more will receive two free tickets.

"These band members must practice hundreds of hours each season and  work hard to raise funds to allow the band to be at the top of their  game each year," she added.

Donations of any size will be welcome.
