Trumbull Accepting Large Refuse Pickup Appointments Online
Get the town to haul away that old mattress or beat up recliner.
TRUMBULL, CT — Got an old mattress or other large garbage item? Have Trumbull haul it away for you, and set up the appointment online.
The town is now accepting online appointments under its Large Item Pickup Program.
Trumbull's annual program runs from April through September, and a household can only schedule one pickup per year.

"The Town of Trumbull offers an annual Large Item Pickup Program to help residents dispose of items that are difficult for most homeowners to transport," officials wrote on the town's website. "Residents should schedule appointments early because they fill up quickly."
Items eligible for pickup include:

- Furniture: Sofas, Chairs, Tables, Mattresses, Carpets, Yard Furniture
- Appliances: Dishwashers, Washers, Televisions , Refrigerators/Freezers with doors removed
- Branches: Must be under 4 feet long and 6 inches diameter and piled neatly at the curb. The maximum amount of brush and branches that can be picked up is equal to the size of a cord of wood, which is 4’ x 4’ x 8’.
- Grills, without propane tank: Propane tanks may be disposed by a propane tank company.
- Electronics: Electronics must be placed in it’s own pile, separate from other materials.
- Doors: must be cut in half, horizontally
Among the items that are not eligible for pickup include vehicles (and vehicle parts also are not eligible), toilets, sinks, tree stumps, dead animals, and hazardous materials.
