Trumbull Cop Injured During Arrest: PD

Police had been making an arrest in a domestic violence case at the time, police said.

TRUMBULL, CT — A local man is accused of assaulting police as they were arresting him Monday for a domestic violence incident, police said.

Isaiah Sabat, 19, of Wilson Avenue, was charged with assaulting a public safety officer, interfering with an officer/resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

Police went to the Wilson Avenue residence around 8 p.m. Monday to investigate a complaint that Sabat had been in a physical altercation with his girlfriend, police said.

According to police, when the arresting officers began to handcuff Sabat, he struck one officer in the face and knocked a second officer down.

The officer who was struck in the face was transported to Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, where he was treated for a facial laceration and other minor injuries, police said.

Police did not identify the officer who was injured.

Sabat was arraigned Tuesday in Superior Court in Bridgeport, and his case was continued to April 15.
