In a statement, Christopher Carter, president of the Connecticut Assisted Living Association, called the infection and death figures "a reflection of the pernicious character of the virus and is in no way a reflection of the quality of the health care facility." Carter also praised "the ongoing and extraordinary efforts of the employees of Connecticut's nursing homes and assisted living communities."

Last week, Connecticut moved into its first phase of its reopening plan. Phase two of the reopening schedule, set for June 20, will include nail salons, movie theaters and outdoor events of up to 50 people.
