Trumbull Extends Moratorium On Multi-Family Rental Apartments
The Planning and Zoning Commission recently approved extending the moratorium.
TRUMBULL, CT — The Trumbull Planning and Zoning Commission recently voted 4-1 to extend the moratorium on multi-family rental apartment developments larger than 50 units in Trumbull.
“I want to thank the Planning and Zoning Commission for extending the moratorium, which is intended to halt any future muti-family rental developments for an additional one-year period,” Trumbull First Selectman Vicki Tesoro said in a news release. “The moratorium does not apply to age-restricted housing for 55 years of age and older. This additional extension will give us the opportunity to continue to study the impact of the policy changes and approvals on the town dating back to 2017.”
Originally put into place in 2019, the moratorium allows the Planning and Zoning Commission, in conjunction with the town, to study the effects of the apartments on the schools and services in the Town of Trumbull, according to the news release.

“The moratorium has been extended each year to allow the apartments to become occupied and to give time for the impact of these developments to be measured,” the news release states. “Please note, the moratorium does not apply to the development of housing that is solely limited to age-restricted housing, 55 and over.”
