Trumbull Housing Authority Gets New Members Again

The new members had their first meeting recently.

Russ Friedson, Joanna Leone and Diane Pomposello have resigned from the Trumbull Housing Authority after serving since December 2012.

Friedson officially resigned March 14, according to his letter to First Selectman Tim Herbst.

"In our short period of time we have done much to improve the futire operations of Stern Village, and I am proud of our accomplishments. Among the 'go-forward initiatives ... is partnering with local nursing homes for emergency relocation and other services. I wholeheartedly agree with this decision," he said.

"In light of this decision, as I have family employed at a local nursing home, I am resigning to avoid any potential conflict. Thank for you the opportunity to serve, and your efforts on behalf of the residents of Stern Village," he concluded.

Leone's note stated, "Please accept my voluntary resignation as a THA Commissioner effective immediately."

She later added, "I resigned due to my career pursuits. I wish everyone the best."

A resignation later was not available from Pomposello.

The THA oversees Stern Village, a subsidized housing complex for seniors and the disabled, and hires the executive director.

The new board is made of Susan Fatse, Suzanne Donofrio, Linda Nassrah and Stern Village resident Thelma Burr, who was elected by residents. One seat is vacant.

First Selectman Tim Herbst appoints the members of the authority, which he revamped in December 2012, citing issues with then-Executive Director Harry Wise and the prior board members.

He appointed Friedson, Leone and later Pomposello, who voted to change the THA's attorney and settle Wise's contract. The THA is also expected to search for a permanent executive director.

Harriet Polansky of Trumbull is the acting interim executive director.
