Trumbull Legislators To Host 'Stuff-A-Truck' Veterans Food Drive

Trumbull legislators will host a "stuff-a-truck" veterans food drive later this month to collect items to benefit local veterans in need.

TRUMBULL, CT — State Representatives David Rutigliano (R-123), Ben McGorty (R-122) and Tony Scott (R-112) will host a "stuff-a-truck" veterans food drive later this month to collect items to benefit local veterans in need.

They will host the annual event in conjunction with the Trumbull Stop and Shop and Homes For The Brave.

According to a news release provided by House Republicans, the Trumbull legislators have held their annual food drive each year before the Thanksgiving holiday.

This year's event will take place Nov. 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stop and Shop grocery store at 100 Quality Street in Trumbull.

A "truck" will be on the premises to collect non-perishable food items and toiletries that will then be donated to local veterans in need, according to the release.

Established in 2002, Homes for the Brave is a 501(c)(3) non-profit empowering veterans facing homelessness, hunger, and mental health challenges.

By offering safe housing, case management, life skills coaching, mental health treatment, and vocational services, the organization helps these individuals regain independence. To date, over 1,700 individuals have been served, securing stable income, housing, and self-determination, according to the release.
