TRUMBULL, CT — The Trumbull Police Department recognized this week an officer for "his quick response and heroic actions" in helping to save the life of a 10-month-old child.

In a Facebook post Thursday, police commended Officer James Sota for his life-saving actions after he helped save a 10-month-old child who was choking.

According to police, Sota saw the infant's lips and mouth turning blue and immediately used a LifeVac from his medical kit.

Working with the child's parents, Sota then helped partially dislodge the food that was blocking the child's airway, according to police.

"Because of his fast action, the child began breathing again and was later treated by EMS and taken to the hospital for evaluation," police wrote on Facebook.
