Trumbull Police Providing Free Locks To Kia, Hyundai Vehicle Owners
In response to increased thefts of certain Hyundai and Kia models, Hyundai has donated free steering wheel locks to Trumbull police.

TRUMBULL, CT — Hyundai has donated free steering wheel locks to the Trumbull Police Department to provide to town residents that own Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
In a Facebook post, police said the locks were donated in response to an increase in thefts of certain models of Hyundai and Kia vehicles.
According to police, Hyundai and Kia vehicles that have keyed ignitions and lack an immobilizer are the models currently being targeted by these thieves.

"Hyundai and Kia have been working on providing anti-theft software upgrades for these vehicles," police said on Facebook, "but they have provided these locks in the meantime in attempts to deter these vehicle thefts."
To get a free lock, Hyundai and Kia vehicle owners or lessees must be a resident of Trumbull and must provide their vehicle's registration, police said.

The locks will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. Due to there being a limited supply of locks, only one lock will be issued per vehicle, police said.
