Trumbull Public Works to Get New Equipment

The town will bond about $5.6 million for snowplows, a new boiler for the Library, a wash bay, snowplows, mowers, payloaders, backhoes and a ventilation system for Town Hall.

There was opposition to bonding from some Town Council members and from Trumbull resident Steve Castro.

"It is interesting to me that there is such a need to bond projects neglected for 20 - 30 years, yet there is no spending in the current operating budget. Our elected officals that ran on fiscal responsibility should be held accountable," Castro said.

Public Works Director John Marsilio said the wash bay is needed to thoroughly clean the town's equipment. Otherwise, sand and salt tend to erode the undercarriages of vehicles, he said.

"If ordered in June, after final Town Council approval, equipment should arrive in October and November," Marsilio said.
