According to town officials, it takes 5 inches of ice for a small group to safely spread out on the ice and skate.

Transparent blue or black lake ice is considered the safest. Residents should stay off of white or gray ice, according to town officials.

"We trust that residents will always use caution when playing on [or] around frozen lakes," the post reads.
