Trumbull Resident Ann Marie Tarinelli, Who Helped the Homeless, Dies

"Trumbull's Treasure" Ann Marie Tarinelli, who started a local movement to help the homeless, died Jan. 11 at St. Vincent's Medical Center.

She was born in Scranton, PA and was a longtime Trumbull resident. She ran the "Treasure Bistro," a non-profit effort to feed and clothe the homeless. She and volunteers spent Sundays distributing items under the John Street viaduct in Bridgeport.

She home-cooked most of the food she distributed.

In 2012, she was honored by the Town of Trumbull, and one day was designated Ann Marie Tarinelli Day, for her service. She was also recognized by the Diocese of Bridgeport for her volunteerism.

She is survived by her son, James Notarnicola of Milford; her grandson Christopher James Notarnicola of Florida; her sister, Kathleen Wood and her husband Robert of Huntington; her former husband, Harry Notarnicola of Milford and five nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to attend her funeral services on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull.

She will be buried in St. Michaels Cemetery.

Friends may pay their respects at the church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. Arrangements in care of the Cyril F. Mullins Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
