Trumbull Rotary To Host 25th Annual Sunset Run Event

The popular community event returns to the scenic setting of Twin Brooks Park in Trumbull this month. Here are the details.

TRUMBULL, CT — The Trumbull Rotary Club is gearing up for its 25th annual Sunset Run, scheduled for July 25 at Twin Brooks Park.

According to a news release provided by the Trumbull Rotary, the popular community event returns to the scenic setting of the park with registration limited to 250 participants, so early sign up is encouraged.

  • R5 K Race Details: Starts at 6:30 p.m.
    • Ages 19+: registration is $32.80 (includes fees) and increases after June 30.
    • Ages 5–18: $27.50
    • Registration closes at 6:30 p.m. on event day.
  • Veterans Division: Free entry for all veterans and active-duty military, ID required (more info).
  • Kids' Scamper: Free, recommended ages 9 and under; non‑timed fun runs begin at 6:15 p.m. (more info).
  • Virtual Option: Available for those unable to attend in person, same fee as adult run - $32.80 (more info).

All abilities are welcome, according to the Trumbull Rotary.

On-site packet pickup begins at 5 p.m. on race day with bibs, shirts and swag available. Pre-race shirt sizing guarantees run through July 15, after which sizes may be limited (more info).

Course Highlights

The 3.11-mile certified course features a rolling-hill front half, a steady net downhill in the back half, and a flat final half-mile. A water station is situated around the 1.7-mile mark.

Computer chip timing and awards await the top three runners in each age group, according to the Trumbull Rotary.

Community Outreach and Impact

All proceeds benefit local initiatives such as:

  • The Third Grade dictionary project
  • Scholarships for Trumbull High students
  • Senior citizen picnic and leaf cleanup programs
  • Support for Trumbull Mc2 Robotics, Junior Achievement, Mock Trial, Arts Commission
  • Regional organizations such as Homes for the Brave, Center for Family Justice, Hall House, and Thomas Merton House.
