Stop & Shop Supermarket came to the residents of Stern Village recently to teach savings.
Stern Village is a subsidized housing complex for seniors and the disabled.
Mark Mancini, manager of Trumbull Stop & Shop, urged residents to clip coupons, buy sale items in bulk, stick to the list and plan meals, try canned or frozen food and buy generic, among other strategies.
He noted that Stop and Shop buys produce from local farmers buying from local farmers during the peak season.
He also stressed the "three P's": plan, purchase and prepare. And don't forget to freeze the leftovers.
