Trumbull Town Clerk Raising Funds to Send Care Packages to Soldiers

Over $3,000 has been raised to help cover the postage to send care packages overseas.

For the third year in a row, the Trumbull Town Clerk’s Office is helping raise funds for the Care Packages for Soldiers program — which sends care packages to troops serving overseas — run by Project From the Heart in Fairfield.

Since they began collecting donations back in September 2011, Trumbull has raised some $3,250 to help with the cost of sending those packages to soldiers abroad.

The Town Clerk’s Office has been raising funds in support of active servicemembers and veterans for years, according to Town Clerk Suzanne Burr Monaco, who noted that her father served on D-Day in WWII.

Before the Care Packages for Soldiers program, the office collected for the American Warrior Project, which helps veterans make the trip to Washington, D.C. to visit the memorials erected in their honor.

Those who would like to contribute to Care Packages for Soldier can drop off donations at the Town Clerk’s Office during regular hours, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
