Trumbull's Tim Herbst Cautions Commuters Following Train Crash
First Selectman Tim Herbst sent the call Sunday night.

First Selectman Tim Herbst made the following announcement Sunday night:
"Residents and commuters should be prepared for a long commute on Monday. Due to Friday’s Metro North train accident, 30,000 people are expected to be displaced and finding alternate methods of transportation to work. Heavy delays are expected on I-95 and the Merritt Parkway."
Herbst said Metro North will provide shuttle bus service from Bridgeport and Fairfield to Westport, South Norwalk, and Stamford where normal train service will be available.
"They do not expect to have enough buses to handle the volume of commuters that normally travel. No shuttle service will be available at the Southport station. Train service will also resume between New Haven and Bridgeport," he said.
For more information, check the MTA website at www.mta.info for shuttle routes and train information and check the Connecticut DOT website at www.ct.gov/dotfor highway information.
He added that Gov. Dannel Malloy is asking the public to car pool, stay home, or stay overnight once in New York.
"Please keep your thoughts and prayers with those who were injured in the accident and we all hope for their quick recovery. Thank you for your understanding and your patience as we work through this together," he added.
