What Road in Trumbull Needs a Speed Bump?

TRUMBULL, CT - Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.

While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Trumbull. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

If you’re frustrated with speeders in a certain part of Trumbull, you are in good company. We reached out to readers on Facebook, asking which local road they thought needed a speed bump. Here’s what your neighbors told us:

• "Sunset Ave. We are a cut through off of Reservoir to White Plains Road. Our road was just paved last month...it is now a raceway! There are many little kids on this road."
• "Frenchtown Rd. An elementary school sits right in the middle, and people use it to cut through to Bpt. Oh, and a camera to catch all the scumbags who throw trash into the woods and front yards."
• "Edison Road, near Church Hill...worst intersection in town. It has accidents all the time (4 in one week last month)!"
• "Chestnut Hill is a raceway from Main St. to Madison Ave."
• "The hill on Hemlock Trail. People speed down that like crazy!"
• "Whitney, by the trail intersection!"
