"Captain Gallant was the go-to person for solving problems and lifting others up. His leadership and work ethic will be deeply missed," police officials said.

Lagace began his career in Delaware with the New Castle County Police before joining Vernon 17 years ago.

"Known for his reliability, positive energy, and sharp thinking, Dale was not just a great officer — he was a great colleague and friend. His presence will be sorely missed," police officials said.

Both are beginning new chapters in their careers in the security field.

"We wish them happiness, good health, and most importantly, a long and fulfilling retirement," police officials said.
