No

Previous public office, appointive or elective:
Yes, I was a member of the Vernon Board of Education from 2018-2025

Why are you seeking this office?
I am running for Vernon Town Council because I truly care about our community and believe in the power of neighbors working together. I want to help ensure that Vernon continues to be a welcoming, vibrant town where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and every resident feels heard. My goal is to bring a thoughtful, collaborative voice to the table by listening carefully, working respectfully across differences, and always keeping the best interests of our town at heart.

The single most pressing issue facing my constituents is ____, and this is what I intend to do about it:
I believe one of the most pressing issues in Vernon is making sure we balance growth and development with preserving the character of our town and the quality of life for all residents. People want to see Vernon thrive with strong schools, safe neighborhoods, and opportunities for local businesses while also keeping our community affordable and welcoming.

If elected, I intend to listen closely to residents, work collaboratively with my colleagues on the Council, and support thoughtful decision-making that keeps Vernon moving forward without losing what makes it special. That means being careful with our budget, investing wisely in our future, and making sure every voice in our community has a seat at the table.

What are the major differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
What makes me different is the way I approach service. I believe in listening first, leading with respect, and working collaboratively to find solutions that truly reflect the needs of our community. I am not running to push an agenda, but rather to be a voice for my neighbors and to help shape a sustainable future for Vernon. My focus is on fostering open communication and ensuring every resident feels heard and valued in the process.

What other issues do you intend to address during your campaign?
I want to focus on issues that directly impact the daily lives of Vernon residents. That includes keeping our town affordable for families and seniors, supporting our schools and youth programs, ensuring our neighborhoods remain safe and welcoming, and promoting thoughtful development that strengthens our local economy while protecting the character of our community. I also believe we need to plan with a long-term vision by making choices today that will support a sustainable future for Vernon.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Throughout my personal, professional, and community experiences, I have worked in roles that required listening, collaboration, and problem-solving; qualities that are essential on the Town Council. As a nonprofit leader, I have helped strengthen organizations that serve our community, and as a university professor, I have guided students while fostering thoughtful dialogue and critical thinking. In addition, my service with Rotary and the Daughters of the American Revolution has given me the opportunity to lead projects, honor our history, and support education and civic engagement. These accomplishments have prepared me to serve Vernon with respect, dedication, and a commitment to building a strong and sustainable future for our town.

What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
To be gracious, kind, and live with purpose.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
What I would like voters to know is that I care deeply about this community and the people who call Vernon home. I am committed to listening, working hard, and making thoughtful decisions that put our town’s best interests first. My experiences as a nonprofit leader, university professor, and active member of Rotary and the Daughters of the American Revolution reflect my dedication to service, education, and community. Most of all, I want people to know that I will bring respect, integrity, and a commitment to a sustainable future to everything I do on the Vernon Town Council.
