Accused Drunken Driver Who Cops Say Fled Vernon Stop With Kid In Vehicle Fails To Post Bond

VERNON, CT — A driver who authorities said sped away from a traffic stop in the Rockville section of Vernon remained in custody after a court appearance Monday.

Joseph Novosatty, 32, of Vernon, failed to posts a $30,000 bond — knocked down from its initial $100,000 — and is due back before a judge on Nov. 18 to face 11 criminal charges.

The incident took place at 5:16 p.m. Friday when police attempted to stop a white Cadillac Escalade with a "misused" plate near West Street and Grand Avenue, according to an arrest report.

The Escalade was located shortly after it raced from the stop at a high rate of speed, according to an arrest report. The report also accuses Novosatty of being drunk with a juvenile in the vehicle.
