VERNON, CT — A man is accused of breaking into other rooms at a Vernon group home and is facing a felony burglary charge as a result, police said.

Details of the Sept. 30 incident were released this week.

At 3:09 p.m. that day, Vernon police received a complaint about a resident of the Char Laine Manor group home entering other locked rooms by using a credit card to gain entry, according to an arrest report.

In one instance, the 64-year did the deed while a resident was inside in an attempt to steal cigarettes, according to an arrest report.

He has been charged with third-degree burglary, criminal attempt at sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace.

He posted a $10,000 bond and is slated for a court appearance in Rockville on Tuesday, records show.
