VERNON, CT — Vernon Police are investigating what they are terming "a robbery" involving a motor vehicle that took place Sunday on Vernon Avenue.

The owner of the vehicle, a Hyundai Kona, was outside a residence when someone armed with a knife stole it and fled the scene, police said.

The thief later struck an East Hartford Police cruiser with the stolen Kona and the vehicle was later recovered in Manchester, police said.

The suspect had not been located as of Monday morning, police said.

"The investigation remains active and the Vernon Police Department are following up on leads. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vernon Police Department," police said.
