CONNECTICUT — U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney (CT-02) Tuesday announced that House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries reappointed him as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Board of Visitors for the 119th Congress.

Courtney is a Vernon resident and represents eastern and parts of north central Connecticut.

"The U.S. Coast Guard is the world’s premiere maritime law enforcement agency, and its service members’ success begins here in eastern Connecticut, at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London," Courtney said. "I look forward to once again serving on the Board of Visitors at a time when a fusillade of Executive Orders from the White House seek to turn the clock back on recent successful efforts to make the Academy safer and more inclusive. As Ranking Member of the Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee, I have seen up close the critical role U.S. Coast Guard officers are now called on at home and overseas to enforce the rule of law in the maritime domain. I am committed to supporting the Academy’s mission as it tackles the challenges ahead."
