Flash Flood Warning Issued For Hartford/Tolland County: BREAKING
The warning for northern Connecticut has just been issued by the National Weather Service.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for east central Hartford County and southern Tolland County until 6 p.m.
"At 244 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: Manchester, Glastonbury, Vernon, Mansfield, South Windsor, Windham, Plainfield, Willimantic, Killingly, Tolland, Coventry,
Hebron, Brooklyn, Marlborough, Willington, Columbia, Canterbury, Bolton, Ashford and Pomfret.
UPDATE: A flood warning is now in effect until 2:45 p.m. in Hartford County.

"At 1147 AM EDT, the public reported flooding in the warned area. Flooding is already occurring. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen.
Some locations that will experience flooding include: Hartford, New Britain, West Hartford, Bristol, Manchester, East Hartford, Southington, Glastonbury, Newington, Vernon, Windsor, Wethersfield, South Windsor, Farmington, Simsbury, Bloomfield, Berlin, Rocky Hill, Avon and Plainville.

Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

"At 1031 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 2 to 4 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: Glastonbury, Mansfield, Windham, Willimantic, Tolland, Coventry, Hebron, Brooklyn, Woodstock, Marlborough, Willington, Columbia, Bolton, Ashford, Pomfret, Andover, Chaplin, Hampton, Eastford and Scotland.
A flash flood warning is in effect until 11 a.m. for Hartford and West Central Tolland County.
"At 932 AM EDT, the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across southwestern Hartford County. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect for Hartford and portions of Tolland County until 9:30 a.m.
"At 909 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from East Granby to near East Hartford to Wethersfield, moving northeast at 35 mph."
HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

"At 750 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain. Heavy rain associated with a strong thunderstorm in southwest Connecticut has a history of producing torrential rainfall and causing flash flooding. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 3 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly."
