Fourth Of July Holiday Altering Trash Collection In Vernon

VERNON, CT — This year, July 4 falls on a Friday, the busiest trash and recycling collection day of the week in Vernon.

The Vernon Department of Public Works will be closed on Friday July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Trash and recycling will not be collected on that day, but instead will be collected on Monday July 7, along with that day's regular collection.

If delays occur, residents should keep trash and recycling carts out at the curb, DPW officials said.
