Free Cones — And A Sneak Preview Of Soon-To-Be Ice Cream Shop In Vernon
Sunday is National Ice Cream Day and Vernon's newest ice cream ship is fully involved.

VERNON, CT — Special dispensation from municipal and health officials will allow the public to sample — for free — a soon-to-open ice cream shop in Vernon.
Frank Guadagnini Thursday said his Frankie G's ice cream shop, which is to be housed at the old drive-up window (soon to be a walk-up window) at the 448 Hartford Turnpike Shell Station, is "not quite ready to open."

In honor of National Ice Cream Day on Sunday (July 20), town of Vernon and North Central Health District officials have given special approval for Frankie G's to open for one day, Guadagnini told Patch.
"So I figured I would just give everyone a free cone," he said. "We're offering a free soft serve cone of your choice this Sunday."

The sneak peek at Frankie G's is scheduled for noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
All orders will be taken through the outdoor walk-up window, Guadagnino said.
"Bring your friends, grab a cone, and enjoy the sunshine at our picnic tables while getting a first taste of what’s to come," he s aid. "We can’t wait to meet you and kick off the summer with a swirl of something sweet."
Guadagnino said The official grand opening is coming soon.
