July 4 2025: Vernon Ready For 79th July In The Sky Celebration
The fireworks show in Vernon is now a bit later, but it's bigger and better.

VERNON, CT — Vernon's annual fireworks show is later than. most towns, but the local parks and recreation director says it works out for the better.
"It gives us our own day," rec director Marty Sitler said. "We have flexibility on the weather day and no one else around has the date. It really does work out."
The 79th Vernon of Vernon's July in the Sky Fireworks show is scheduled for Wednesday, July 9, at both Henry Park and in Downtown Rockville. The rain date is Thursday, July 10.

The family type festivities begin at 6 p.m. at each location. Gates open at 6 p.m. at Henry Park. Both areas will feature live music, various types of food vendors and amusements such like bounce houses and other inflatables.

In Rockville, the annual Bryan Flint Memorial Push, Pull and Pedal Patriotic Parade is slated to step off at 6:30 p.m. Participants can decorate their bicycles and other non-motorized vehicles beginning at 5 p.m. in the former Ladd & Hall parking lot near Brooklyn Street.
The evening culminates with a hugew fireworks show that is launched from Fox Hill Tower, the highest point in Vernon. The show is visible throughout the region, but the best viewing spots are in Henry Park and downtown Rockville.
The fireworks show begins "when the sky is dark enough," officials said.
"July in the Sky is a Vernon tradition that we look forward to each year," Mayor Dan Champagne said. "It’s a great opportunity for everyone to come together to celebrate our nation’s founding, enjoy a great time and view what is always an amazing fireworks show."
Admission to Henry Park is $10 per car and $2 per walker (cash only). A wristband for activities and
amusements is $15 (cash only). Cars cannot leave the park until the fireworks are over.
There is no charge to watch the fireworks or for activities in Rockville. There is a charge for food and vendors, however.
