Labor Day Trash Schedule, Haz Waste Days, Posted For Vernon
The long weekend is altering the trash and recycling schedule in Vernon.
VERNON, CT — The Vernon Public Works Department will be closed on Monday Sept 1, in observance of Labor Day.
Trash and recycling will not be collected on that day, but will instead be collected the following day on Tuesday Sept. 2, along with that day's scheduled collection.
If delays occur, residents should keep their carts out at the curb, DPW officials said.

Remaining Hazardous Waste Collection Dates
Vernon residents may dispose of hazardous waste on the following dates:

- Sept. 13
- Oct. 11
- Nov. 1
- Feb. 7
All collection dates are Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Capitol Region East Hazardous Waste facility, which is adjacent to the Manchester Landfill at 321 Olcott St.
In addition, there will be a collection on Saturday Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Somers High School.
