McVicker to perform in Rockville on Thursday, October 10
Only Connecticut concert on his 2024 nationwide tour

Union Church will host a solo concert by Dove Award-winning singer and songwriter Mitch McVicker from Atlanta on Thursday, October 10. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the event will begin at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in the beautiful 600-seat sanctuary at 3 Elm Street in the historic Rockville section of Vernon. Admission is free and open to the public.
The concert will feature McVickers’ unique construction of percussion tracks by looping junk, household items and children’s toys. He describes his concert as “Mark Twain meets MacGyver.” His quirky and inventive approach includes insightful song lyrics, unconventional instruments and profound storytelling.
McVicker's vocational musical journey began by working with the late Rich Mullins. The two were roommates, performing concerts and writing songs together. Shortly after a car accident killed Mullins and badly injured McVicker, a song the two penned together, “My Deliverer,” was given the GMA Dove Award for Song of the Year, all while McVicker was in a lengthy and difficult recovery period.
