VERNON, CT — Let's say one thing about the grinders at a new family restaurant in Vernon — they seemed to be as long as a lacrosse stick.
OK, that's an exaggeration, but the larges were ... well ... large.
Paradise Pizza and Family Restaurant is open for business and it was certainly bustling over the weekend. At 575 Talcottville Road, it fills a plaza vacancy created by the departure of another pizza place. The location is also convenient for the younger crowd — at the Talcottville Road-Loveland Hill Road intersection near Rockville High School.

The owners have transformed the vacancy into a restaurant with not only takeout, but plenty of tables for dine-in, which several people took advantage of at dinnertime Saturday. The menu is stacked.
The grinders come in 8- and 16-inch sizes and feature the traditional to four types of parm — eggplant, meatball, sausage and chicken.
