HARTFORD/TOLLAND/WINDHAM COUNTY, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for northern Connecticut.

In its statement, the weather service wrote, "The lingering areas of light rain/snow will come to an end by mid-evening. While current temperatures were above freezing...they will fall below freezing later this evening and into the overnight hours. This combined with light winds will result in conditions favorable for the formation of black ice as the night wears along. There may also may be areas of localized dense ground fog too.

"Motorists traveling this evening and especially into the overnight hours should be prepared for areas of fog and black ice. Roads that appear wet may actually be icy...so please drive with extra
caution."
